Migrant Childcare
The Migrant Child Care Alternative Payment (MCAP) Program helps migrant agricultural working families pay for approved childcare services. Families must apply in one of MCAP’s six entry counties: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, or Tulare.
Once enrolled, eligible families may continue receiving childcare services as they move throughout California to follow agricultural work. Families can choose the childcare setting that best meets their needs, including licensed childcare centers, licensed family childcare homes, license-exempt relatives, family, friend, and neighbor providers, and in-home providers.
These childcare options help families work and provide for their children while ensuring their children are cared for in a safe and nurturing environment of their choice. Families are admitted to the program based on established eligibility requirements.
