KGET Holiday Food Drive
KGET and Community Action Partnership of Kern are teaming up once again to host a holiday food drive. Last year, CAPK collected over 8,500 pounds of food. This year, we are looking to increase that amount.
This event aims to support families in need during the holiday season. The non-perishable food items collected will be distributed to local families who may be struggling to make ends meet.
This event will also be having a drive-thru lunch from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. For a $15.00 donation, participants will receive a sandwich, a bag of chips, and a drink.

JJO's Food and Ton of Toys Holiday Drive
Exciting news! JJO is back in Bakersfield and ready to make a difference. We’re teaming up to collect food and toys, with all food donations going directly to our CAPK Food Bank. Serving all of Kern County, our mission is to support our food-insecure neighbors. This Thanksgiving, let’s come together to ensure families across our county have a meal to share. Your generosity can make this holiday season a little brighter for those in need. Let’s spread the spirit of giving!

Bakersfield Turkey Day Run
Welcome to the 8th annual Bakersfield Turkey Day Run!
What a great way to start your Thanksgiving! Run or walk on Thanksgiving morning and then eat your Thanksgiving feast guilt free. We are offering a long sleeve Thanksgiving shirt and a Finisher’s Medallion to all participants.
Event takes place at The Park at River Walk. Free parking will be available.
Race takes place rain or shine! No refunds!

M Street Annual Coat Drive
Winter is here, and at the CAPK M Street Navigation Center, we’re committed to providing warmth and shelter to our community. We currently provide shelter to nearly 200 unhoused individuals, along with safe parking and camping services for many more. As the temperatures drop, our mission to ensure a warm winter season for our clients becomes even more crucial. But we’re not just about providing shelter – we’re dedicated to helping our clients navigate their journey to self-sufficiency. Let’s make this winter a season of hope and progress!

Free Zumba Classes!
Join us at Friendship House for a vibrant and energizing experience every Thursday! We’re thrilled to offer free Zumba classes to the community, creating a lively and inclusive space for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. From 11 am to 12 pm, our skilled Zumba instructor will guide you through dynamic routines that combine dance and exercise, ensuring a fun and effective workout. Whether you’re a seasoned Zumba enthusiast or trying it out for the first time, everyone is welcome! Bring your friends and family to share in the joy of movement and wellness. Let’s dance our way to a healthier, happier community together!

Volunteer
CAPK has many different programs and volunteer opportunities including the Food Bank, doing taxes at VITA and volunteering with children at Head Start or Shafter Youth Center. If you are interested in any of these opportunities please fill out the volunteer inquiry form and for more information on specific volunteer opportunities visit our Volunteer Portal.
Step by Step Guide on Becoming a CAPK Volunteer
- Fill out the CAPK Volunteer Inquiry form Volunteer Inquiry · Customer Self-Service (powerappsportals.com)
- An email with a registration link will be sent within 48 hours to the email that the individual submitted their inquiry with (make sure to check junk mail in case it lands there)
- Fill out registration (choose username and password)
- A prompt will come up where you will be asked sign Oath of Continentality/Risk of Liability Forms
- Once completing forms scroll up and hit “home.”
- You will then be prompted to home screen, where you will scroll down and hit “volunteer management.”
- Click on tabs “ongoing opportunities” or “events” to browse opportunities.
- “Apply” for the opportunity and staff will reach out if there is needed follow up
- Volunteer and have fun!
