CAPK’s Veteran Supportive Services (VSS) program provides housing, case management, and essential resources to veterans and their families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. With a range of services from emergency housing to permanent supportive communities, VSS is committed to restoring dignity and creating pathways to self-sufficiency for those who served.

CAPK VSS Programs & Services Include:

  • BRIDGE Housing Program
  • Service-Intensive Transitional Housing
  • Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)
  • Covey Cottages
  • East Hills & Park 20th (REH) Program
  • Specialized Veteran Outreach and Relocation Support

BRIDGE Housing Program

A short-term (up to 90 days) transitional housing option for veterans actively pursuing permanent housing. This program provides a stable environment and essential support services to help veterans successfully transition into long-term housing.

Service-Intensive Transitional Housing

Up to 24 months of housing support for veterans with high barriers to housing, such as limited income, ineligibility for subsidies, or medical and mental health challenges. This option is also available to those who opt out of BRIDGE housing.

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF)

This Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing program assists low-income veterans and their families with rental assistance, case management, and connection to vital services to prevent or end homelessness.

East Hills & Park 20th (REH) Program

In partnership with the Housing Authority, REH offers permanent housing case management for single veterans and veteran families, supporting long-term stability and promoting self-sufficiency.

Specialized Veteran Outreach & Relocation Support

CAPK VSS also serves at-risk youth veterans (ages 18–24) with dependents and oers relocation services for eligible veterans across the country willing to move to Kern County. This outreach ensures that veterans nationwide have access to life-changing services and stable housing opportunities.

Located at 604 Covey Ave. in Bakersfield,
Covey Cottages is a 12-unit permanent
supportive housing community for
homeless veterans and their families. Each
unit is fully furnished and supported with
case management, helping veterans build
stability and regain independence in a
dignified, safe environment.
