Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

Community Action Partnership of Kern’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (CAPK VITA) County’s federally appointed poverty-fighting agency, will host a federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at its offices located at 300 19th Street (corner of V Street) in Downtown Bakersfield.

The EITC is a special tax break for low-income working Americans. It is a credit on top of a taxpayer’s tax return—a financial boost that can amount to up to several thousand dollars for working families who qualify based on earned income and family size.

By hosting this commemorative event on National EITC Awareness Day (the last Friday in January), CAPK VITA will be aligning itself with Community Action Agencies and VITA Programs across the nation that are working to raise awareness about the importance of the EITC as a financially empowering tool for low-income families.
