CAPK’s Head Start and State Child Development program accepts applications all year long, and we are enrolling children now!

Are You Eligible?

Head Start programs across the nation use the Federal Poverty Guidelines to determine eligibility. However, your child may also be eligible if they or your family identifies with one or more of these categories:

  1. You receive SSI or Public Assistance (Public Assistance eligibility requires specific Aid Code);
  2. You are a SNAP/CalFresh recipient;
  3. Your child has an IFSP or IEP;
  4. You are experiencing homelessness.

Did you know? Extra enrollment priority is granted to families experiencing homelessness, Foster Children, children with an IEP or IFSP, and more.

To apply for enrollment in our State Child Development program, parents or guardians must be working, seeking employment, enrolled in education or job training programs, or medically incapacitated.

These four types of documentation are required before an applicant can be placed on our waitlist for enrollment.

Proof of Birth

  1. Birth Certificate/ Hospital Crib Card; or
  2. Verification of Benefits; or
  3. Immunization Records.

Immunization Record

Address Verification – Must be current within the last 90 days

  1. Utility Bill – Electric or Water bill is desired; phone and/or cable is acceptable; or
  2. Verification of Benefits; or
  3. Lease or Rental Agreement.

12 Months of Income Verification – Includes wages, public assistance, child support, unemployment. A combination of these items may be calculated to total 12 months:

  1. W2 or Tax Forms;
  2. Check stubs;
  3. Verification of Benefits and/or SSI;
  4. Survival Benefits;
  5. Verification of Support;
  6. Statement of Zero Income;
  7. Foster Placement Agreement;
  8. Child Support Printout.
