Veterans Stand Down

The CAPK Veterans and Supportive Services Program invites all veterans to the Annual Kern County Veterans Stand Down. This event is a one-stop opportunity for veterans to connect with essential support services and community resources, including housing assistance, healthcare, benefits enrollment, and more.

Join us on Thursday, October 9 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Stramler Park, 3805 Chester Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93301.

Casino Night for Friendship House

Join us for a fun and exciting evening at CAPK’s Casino Night Fundraiser—an unforgettable night of community, entertainment, and giving back. Enjoy classic casino games, delicious drinks, and the chance to win exciting raffle prizes, all while supporting a great cause.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Friendship House Community Center, helping us continue to provide vital programs and resources for local youth and families.

Free Zumba Classes!

Join us at Friendship House for a vibrant and energizing experience every Thursday! We’re thrilled to offer free Zumba classes to the community, creating a lively and inclusive space for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. From 11 am to 12 pm, our skilled Zumba instructor will guide you through dynamic routines that combine dance and exercise, ensuring a fun and effective workout. Whether you’re a seasoned Zumba enthusiast or trying it out for the first time, everyone is welcome! Bring your friends and family to share in the joy of movement and wellness. Let’s dance our way to a healthier, happier community together!

Volunteer with CAPK

CAPK has many different programs and volunteer opportunities including the Food Bank, doing taxes at VITA and volunteering with children at Head Start or Shafter Youth Center.   If you are interested in any of these opportunities please fill out the volunteer inquiry form and for more information on specific volunteer opportunities visit our Volunteer Portal.

Step by Step Guide on Becoming a CAPK Volunteer

  1. Fill out the CAPK Volunteer Inquiry form Volunteer Inquiry · Customer Self-Service (powerappsportals.com)
  2. An email with a registration link will be sent within 48 hours to the email that the individual submitted their inquiry with (make sure to check junk mail in case it lands there)
  3. Fill out registration (choose username and password)
  4. A prompt will come up where you will be asked sign Oath of Continentality/Risk of Liability Forms
  5. Once completing forms scroll up and hit “home.”
  6. You will then be prompted to home screen, where you will scroll down and hit “volunteer management.”
  7. Click on tabs “ongoing opportunities” or “events” to browse opportunities.
  8. “Apply” for the opportunity and staff will reach out if there is needed follow up
  9. Volunteer and have fun!
