Wesley Head Start Ribbon Cutting

Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK), the poverty-fighting agency in Kern County, is celebrating the opening of Wesley Head Start Child Developing Center with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m., on the campus of Wesley United Methodist Church, 1314 Oswell St. (on the corner of Niles St.), Bakersfield, CA 93306.

Sharon Briggs is the Director for this center, which will serve 60 children ages three to five in two morning and two afternoon classes that will accommodate 15 children each.  Center hours will be Tuesday – Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Wesley Head Start Center will officially open its doors on Tuesday, January 10. The center will provide morning session children with breakfast and lunch, and afternoon session children with lunch and a snack.

The zip code of 93306, where Wesley Head Start is located, is a high-needs area where close to 24% of individuals live below poverty, according to the latest information available from the American Community Survey of the U.S. Census Bureau.
