Oasis Family Resource Center is a regional service facility based in Ridgecrest, California that assists individuals and families in North Eastern Kern County Communities. The Oasis Family Resource Center is the central location for services in Ridgecrest and neighboring communities.<\/p>

1. Case Management Services:<\/strong>\u00a0Provides direct family support services through case management, parenting classes (including court-mandated), referrals, and promotes parents\u2019 knowledge of developmental milestones and norms. Provides early learning through home-based and kindergarten summer bridge transition activities.<\/p>

2. Summer Bridge Program<\/strong>\u00a0is offered in June and July to children who will be entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or Kindergarten in the upcoming school year who have not had any classroom experience. The focus is to prepare children for a successful entry into the classroom.<\/p>

3. Referrals:<\/strong>\u00a0The Oasis Family Resource Center will help individuals and families access other services offered through county and community programs and provide access to food and clothing assistance.<\/p>

4. Utility Assistance:<\/strong>\u00a0Access to HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) applications and technicians for Ridgecrest residents.<\/p>

5. VITA Assistance<\/b>: CAPK VITA staff and volunteers provide year-round tax preparation and e-filing for low to medium-income individuals and families at\u00a0NO-COST<\/strong>. All VITA services are offered by trained, IRS-certified staff and volunteers to maximize refunds and take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).VITA staff can currently assist taxpayers with the following:<\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Tax preparation for tax years 2016-2021
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0ITIN applications and renewals
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Recovering Economic Impact Payments 1-3, known as stimulus payments
<\/span>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Claiming Child Tax Credits and Earned Income Credit (for those eligible)
<\/span>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Understanding and responding to letters issued from the Internal Revenue Service and\/or Franchise Tax\u00a0<\/span>Board<\/span><\/p>

6. Coordinated Entry Services<\/b>:\u00a0The Coordinated Entry System (CES) serves as Kern County\u2019s point of entry for individuals seeking assessment and referral to homeless services. In partnership with 2-1-1 Kern County, individuals and families are referred to CES\u00a0Homeless Navigators\u00a0who then connect individuals experiencing homeless with service providers within\u00a0the\u00a0Bakersfield-Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative. Those providers help callers obtain shelter, supportive services and \u2013 eventually \u2013 permanent housing.\u00a0Coordinated Entry also helps individuals who are at risk of homelessness obtain rental assistance payments so they can maintain their housing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

7. Emergency Closet<\/b>: Food pantry and hygienic necessities.<\/p>

8. Monthly Diaper Supply<\/strong>: Access to free monthly diaper supply from CalCAPA Supply Bank. To qualify bring one of the following:<\/p>

  • WIC benefits<\/li>
  • CALFresh\/EBT Benefits<\/li>
  • Proof of Income<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
