Head Start Teacher
The Teacher is responsible for exhibiting respectful communication, problem solving and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive attitude. The teacher must be capable of writing clearly and maintaining current documentation for each child. The teacher is responsible for the care and the development of children, supervising, teaching, implementing culturally relevant curriculum, and creating a developmentally appropriate classroom and outdoor environment for children with active participation of parents and other staff to meet the Head start Performance Standards. Must possess and maintain a valid Teacher’s Permit. Must have at minimum an associate degree from an accredited college or university with major in one of the following: Early Childhood Development, Education, Human Development or related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience working in a State or Federally Funded Child Care Program is desirable. Bilingual language fluency (Spanish/English) highly desirable. Must be fingerprinted and have such records filed with the State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing. Must have a valid California Driver’s License and State automobile insurance and acceptable driving record substantiated by a DMV printout. $19.04/hr. – $20.62/hr. depending on education. + benefits.
