When you first visit our CAPK WIC offices, you will meet with a counselor who will talk to you about nutrition. You will then receive special checks, called food vouchers, to buy healthy foods, customized just for you and your family.

  • Families who could use help with their food budget and meet income guidelines
  • Pregnant women (breastfeeding or postpartum)
  • Families with children under age 5 (families with children under 5 can include dad’s, grandparents and foster parents, too)
  • Families who could use help with their food budget
WIC IS PRENATAL COUNSELING

BEFORE your baby is born is the time to eat right and get the prenatal care you need.  WIC provides healthy foods to pregnant women to help make sure mother and baby are healthy.

WIC IS BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT AND PUMPS
  • WIC knows you want what’s best for your baby and we’re here with peer counselors and lactation support, so you can feed your baby the way nature intended.
  • WIC gives breastfeeding moms more food to help with nursing her baby. 
  • WIC has breastfeeding pumps for moms who go back to school or work. 
  • WIC no longer routinely gives formula in the first 30 days after the baby is born.  
 Did you know?
Breast milk helps a baby’s brain grow.
Breast milk is easier to digest, causing fewer stomach upsets.
Breastfed infants get sick less, have less tooth decay, allergies & ear infections.
Moms can feed their babies in public!

IT’S THE LAW: "Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a mother may breastfeed her child in any location, public or private, except the private home or residence of another, where the mother and the child are otherwise authorized to be present” Section 43.3 of the California Civil Code.

WIC is your source for healthy meals and snack-ideas for you and your child.  Before school starts, you can teach your children to enjoy fruits and vegetables with support from CAPK WIC.  Then, when it’s time for school, your little one is healthy and ready to learn.

CAPK WIC can show you how to get the most for your family, at the grocery store or farmer’s markets.  WIC staff can help you plan your food budget and feed your family tasty, healthy meals.

WIC has great recipes for healthy family dinners that everyone will enjoy.  Look for our Harvest of the Month with a seasonal fruit or vegetable and yummy recipe to go with it.
