VITA - Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
The VITA program provides free tax preparation and e-filing services to low to moderate income individuals, families and seniors.
The VITA program is mainly operated by volunteers and each year the volunteers are trained and certified to prepare tax returns.
IDA - Individual Development Account
The IDA program is a 2 to 1 savings match program and is asset based. You must attend an orientation, complete an application, and be income qualified for this program.
Accepted participants then attend 10 financial education classes, 4 life skills elective classes and 5 asset specific classes.
Participants also start saving a pre-determined amount of money for 18 – 24 months. A participant can save up to $2000.00 and will be matched on the amount saved up to this limit.
Once a participant has saved their money and completed all required components to the program, they can then purchase their asset. The eligible assets are: first time home purchase, starting a small business or secondary education
