Fatherhood

From Great Fathers, Come Great Children

The mission of the Fatherhood Program is to strengthen and enhance the lives and well-being of children and families brought about through fatherhood and positive male role modeling.

The primary focus of the program is to help foster positive male role modeling, and empower fathers (or the primary male figure for the child in the home) to become responsible, committed, and involved, through education, public awareness campaigns, and services provided by the program.  These services include home visits, male support groups, father/child bonding activities, court mandated parenting/neglect classes, teen father support groups, and case management services.

The Fatherhood Program has become a vital asset to the community because of the commitment to fathers and their families, as well as continuous efforts to build on collaborative alliances, partnerships, and enhance the lives of Kern County fathers.

This program was the first to be recognized in the sate of California as an affiliate of the National Fatherhood Initiative.  The program is currently funded to support education, case management, support groups, and court mandated parenting/neglect classes, public awareness and other resources.

The Fatherhood Program is funded through various grants, including Head Start/Early Head Start, and other donations
